Galatians 6:9

posted on February 09

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" -Galatians 6:9 In today's world, it seems as if everyone has an agenda. We say a compliment so we can receive one in return. We offer a hand so that we can get someone to help us back. But what does it mean to truly do "good"? Take a minute to think about one truly "good" person in your life. When we help someone unselfishly out of the love of our own hearts, we are doing good the way Jesus wants us to do good. Sometimes we do our part, but no one does the same for us. This is when we begin to feel discouraged. But don't lose faith! I have come to realize that the good you do for other people is not just between you and the other party... Jesus is right there in the middle of the encounter. You may feel like no one cares when you are cleaning the house for 7 hours a day or unappreciated when the boss doesn't notice your hard work, but your rewards and recognition are being stored in Heaven when it comes down to what really matters. So love your neighbor. Love those who don't want it. Love those who are jealous, spiteful, hateful, or just plain sassy... because frankly, they need it the most. Tell them the gospel of what Jesus did for us on the cross and that's the truth you can proclaim for the rest of your life. Helping others love God, love people, and love themselves is a wonderful thing to pass on and is a big part of "doing good"! "Lord, help us to be more like you everyday and guide our feet down the path you want us to follow. We want to do good and we know that you are where all goodness begins. Thank you for all you do for us and forgive us for when we fall. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
